FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring?

You should have a backpack or hydration vest big enough to carry at least 2L-3L of water depending on how long of a hike you’re going to be on. The weather in Hawai'i is very fickle, however it is always humid while hiking. Keeping hydrated is a must!

Also pack: sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, small towel, wipes, your medication, gloves, spikes, light rain jacket, small first aid kit, cell phone, GoPro or camera, and baggies for your trash. Always pack it in, pack it out and leave no trace.

What should I wear?

Ideally you would want to wear long comfortable hiking pants and good hiking shoes/boots or trail runners. Your Nike running shoes, Vans old skool checkerboard slip-ons, slippahs, or Chaco’s are not allowed! If you’re okay getting scratched from bushes and the crazy razor uluhe, then you are more than welcome to wear shorts. Moisture wicking shirts or long sleeves are great too. Something you’re okay getting dirty, muddy, and sweaty in.

Also pack: light rain jacket, gaiter, hat, gloves, and spikes.

What can I leave in my car?

I suggest that you don’t leave anything of value in your car. Have everything ready before you get to your destination and park. Do not go in and out of your trunk thinking that you can keep valuables there. You never know who’s watching you put your new drone into your trunk, because you decided at the last minute you didn’t want to bring it.

What you can leave: extra set of clothes, change of shoes, slippahs, snacks, extra water, towels, bag for anything dirty or muddy, and wipes.

Are there restrooms?

Yes.

It’s called the forest. Most of the trailheads start in a residential area or a remote location with no restrooms nearby. So please plan your poop schedule accordingly or bring your biodegradable wipes along with a baggie. I bring my doggos poop bags, but you still need to pack your wipes out whether biodegradable or not. You can always stop at the nearest public park restroom or gas station. Please be mindful of your time and our time.

Don’t.

We understand that things happen and you may be running a little behind. We ask that you call or text us and let us know how late you’re going to be so we can determine the next step.

If your last minute timetable is not reasonable for us, then your hike may be canceled and NO REFUND will be given.

How long is the hike?

Do you dilly dally?

Most of the hikes on average are about 5 miles, and approximately 5-6 hours long. It will all depend on how fast/slow we move and how many breaks we take. We try to keep the breaks to a minimum and keep a nice consistent pace. We are not trying to spend the night out there.

What do I receive with my hiking adventure?

US!

The price of our hikes are per person. You receive our guidance, expertise, and knowing that you are safe as long as you follow instructions, plus you’re hiking with two super cool and fun chicks! We have gloves that we can lend to you, and spikes if you need them. We will also be taking photos and videos of you throughout the hike and can send them to you.
